The best kind of loving

0

You make my body melt like snowflakes lingering on a sunny day
giving love that envelops me like a soft blanket over a moonlit bay
where I can close my eyes to yesterday’s anguish and pain
and lying in your arms proves that everybody’s loving is not the same.
I lie awake at night watching the rise and fall of your masculine chest
knowing that it protects the beating heart that has given only the best
of a man who treasures the woman he vowed to …

“It was a dark and stormy night”

2

This was a writing challenge….it’s cliche that suspense and mystery novels begin with this one phrase. The challenge was to put our own spin on how such a story would unfold:
It was a dark and stormy night. Which was just as well, because then you couldn’t see the tears rolling down Janelle’s face as she sat in the car contemplating what her next move would be. The mansion was dark and foreboding and she knew once she stepped inside she …

B.M.O.C.

September knew how to walk. In fact, she’d become quite adept at that sort of thing for the better part of her 16 years. It was only until she passed Billy Walsh in the hallways of Summerville High that her legs were as stable as two spindly, licorice sticks that had been left out on the streets of her native New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
They were a hopeless jumble of nerves that seemed to short circuit whenever the tall, handsome …

you matter to me

0

mostly, i think of you on rainy days when thunder claps outside my window
and i remember how comforting your arms were as i snuggled against them.
i can recall the times when you came to my rescue for any number of silly reasons.
yet, you always refused to take no for an answer and you never judged me.
you’d always been my soft place to fall whenever i was blue and just needed a sympathetic ear.
your heart was open and giving and i …

Boundaries

0

I imagine your lips searching mine
for answers that only my heart can answer.
Your staccato-ed eyes try to assess any tell-tale signs
of my body betraying my truth.
But I will keep silent; my words will never utter
how you make my heart leap with
anticipation…each time I see you.
You have unfinished business with another,
so when those ties are severed…..
You will learn in time
that I love you.

Promises Kept

2

When you promised me your heart,
You didn’t promise your soul.
When you promised your devotion,
You didn’t promise that we’d be joined at the hip.
When you promised to be faithful,
You didn’t promise to become a slave to my insecurity.
When you promised to love me,
You didn’t promise to consume me.
When you promised to trust me,
You didn’t promise to be indifferent.
When you promised to honor me,
You didn’t promise pedestals from which I could easily fall.
You promised a sweet, tender love that seemed so foreign …

Shoot ‘em up

0

Reviewed on Wednesday, 5 Sep, 2007
No movie was as aptly titled as Shoot ‘em up since it pretty much described what took place over the course of roughly 85% of its run.
This movie had something for everyone (especially adrenalin junkies): uproarious humor, sexual depravity, violence vaguely disguised as more violence, romance, political intrigue, spy v. spy machinations, controversial medical practices, a study of dysfunctional relationships, and the never-ending challenges of single parenthood.
I’ve always liked Clive Owens’(Mr. Smith) work in the …

Our Golden Anniversary

0

He cradled her delicate hand into his and leaned in to whisper as he kissed it, “I told you if you stick with me, I’d take you places”, he grinned. Her bright eyes looked up at him as she smiled that effervescent smile that had always melted his heart.  “You haven’t broken a promise yet.” she said wistfully. Their old house, which welcomed the young lovers to a new life of domestic tranquility a half a century ago, bore witness …

Life at the Salvation Home and Hospital

0

Not everyone who came here wanted to forget the past. Some simply wanted a support system for whatever decision that they eventually made because there was nothing or no one at home to give it to them. They needed someplace to go to think about why they believed what HE said. And why they were so easily swayed to disregard the way that their mama had brought them up.
There were others who believed that they were in …

Little Pink Mary Janes

She had already resolved to forgive him, but the universe had conspired against that probability. It was the first time that she’d seen him so vulnerable, so repentant. It was almost enough to make her forget how his hands probably touched her in the way that she knew so well. She remembered his confession and how he promised that it meant nothing to him. She was just a distraction, a piece that meant nothing to him …
