you matter to me

0

mostly, i think of you on rainy days when thunder claps outside my window
and i remember how comforting your arms were as i snuggled against them.
i can recall the times when you came to my rescue for any number of silly reasons.
yet, you always refused to take no for an answer and you never judged me.
you’d always been my soft place to fall whenever i was blue and just needed a sympathetic ear.
your heart was open and giving and i …

Boundaries

0

I imagine your lips searching mine
for answers that only my heart can answer.
Your staccato-ed eyes try to assess any tell-tale signs
of my body betraying my truth.
But I will keep silent; my words will never utter
how you make my heart leap with
anticipation…each time I see you.
You have unfinished business with another,
so when those ties are severed…..

Promises Kept

2

When you promised me your heart,
You didn’t promise your soul.
When you promised your devotion,
You didn’t promise that we’d be joined at the hip.
When you promised to be faithful,
You didn’t promise to become a slave to my insecurity.
When you promised to love me,
You didn’t promise to consume me.

Our Golden Anniversary

He cradled her delicate hand into his and leaned in to whisper as he kissed it, “I told you if you stick with me, I’d take you places”, he grinned. Her bright eyes looked up at him as she smiled that effervescent smile that had always melted his heart.  “You haven’t broken a promise yet.” she said wistfully. Their old house, which welcomed the young lovers to a new life of domestic tranquility a half a century ago, bore witness …

Life at the Salvation Home and Hospital

0

Not everyone who came here wanted to forget the past. Some simply wanted a support system for whatever decision that they eventually made because there was nothing or no one at home to give it to them. They needed someplace to go to think about why they believed what HE said. And why they were so easily swayed to disregard the way that their mama had brought them up.
There were others who believed that they were in …

Little Pink Mary Janes

0

She had already resolved to forgive him, but the universe had conspired against that probability. It was the first time that she’d seen him so vulnerable, so repentant. It was almost enough to make her forget how his hands probably touched her in the way that she knew so well. She remembered his confession and how he promised that it meant nothing to him. She was just a distraction, a piece that meant nothing to him …
