Shoot ‘em up

0

Reviewed on Wednesday, 5 Sep, 2007
No movie was as aptly titled as Shoot ‘em up since it pretty much described what took place over the course of roughly 85% of its run.
This movie had something for everyone (especially adrenalin junkies): uproarious humor, sexual depravity, violence vaguely disguised as more violence, romance, political intrigue, spy v. spy machinations, controversial medical practices, a study of dysfunctional relationships, and the never-ending challenges of single parenthood.
I’ve always liked Clive Owens’(Mr. Smith) work in the …

A Prayer for the Lost and Forgotten

0

Bless those whose once soft, downy pillow has now morphed into the cold, bitter concrete.
Shelter those whose homes are now a tattered mosaic of cardboard boxes and pieces of plastic sheeting.
Watch over those who no longer live within the safe confines of a warm, loving home.
Sustain those whose stomaches growl as they search desperately through the city’s refuse cans for anything that once resembled food.
Dry the tears from the faces of those who stand on the precipice of losing all …

Twenty five things about me

5

I think one of the best ways to get to know someone is to have them put pen to paper and reveal random things about themselves. If you have stuck with me thus far, I thought that I would share a little about me so that we could get better acquainted . Here are twenty five things about me
I’m a hopeless romantic. I believe that there is someone for everyone….problem is most of the time, they never …

Our Golden Anniversary

He cradled her delicate hand into his and leaned in to whisper as he kissed it, “I told you if you stick with me, I’d take you places”, he grinned. Her bright eyes looked up at him as she smiled that effervescent smile that had always melted his heart.  “You haven’t broken a promise yet.” she said wistfully. Their old house, which welcomed the young lovers to a new life of domestic tranquility a half a century ago, bore witness …

Love sent you here to me

0

…. to two empty arms longing to hold a sweet baby girl with beautiful brown eyes.
Whose smile gave great clarity to the true meaning of my life
…. and whose tiny fingers clinging to mine, held me up when I thought I would falter.
You are no longer a child now, you have become a young woman before I could prepare myself for that
Inevitability
Shy, though confident in your own way….I watch you grow .…apart from me…but
happy still…I hope.
Over time, it is you …

August Rush

0

Reviewed on Tuesday, 13 Nov, 2007
Until last night, I was convinced that the best movie to watch when you’re feeling blue is a comedy. I’m beginning to think that I was wrong. Movies that inspire and encourage you seem to be the antidote for a troubled heart. After the laughs from a comedic movie have subsided, there is still a longing, a void in the spirit that isn’t quite filled.
August Rush is a magical blend of the type of …

Born Suspect

Apparently, I never got the memo. Surely, my face must be plastered all over our local post office or perhaps I’m the featured attraction on the board of my county sheriff’s office. Odd thing is…..no one ever told me. The only hint that I have that this must be the case is when I’m out to do a little retail therapy. You know….that orgasmic release women get when they enter the doors of retail establishments to …

Scenes from bus route # 47: Or my life as a rush hour voyeur

0

Commuters who leave the driving to a municipal employee, usually gets the best of both worlds. Not only do they not have to contend with negotiating road hazards and reckless drivers, but they get to view their commute from a totally different angle. They get to see the world from a 180 degree perspective; a snapshot of the world through a 45 mph prism.
Life events become clearer as a passenger. You begin to take note of things …

To be reborn in the morning

1

**Note** This is something that I wrote as an homage as to how the elderly are sometimes forgotten and disregarded. It is not about me, personally, although one day I aspire to become old and gray. Thanks for reading.
As I toil in my garden, I look for a friendly smile from passersby, hoping that they’ll take a moment from each other’s glance to notice an old lady waving hello,
But their lively conversation is too compelling for them to …

Life at the Salvation Home and Hospital

0

Not everyone who came here wanted to forget the past. Some simply wanted a support system for whatever decision that they eventually made because there was nothing or no one at home to give it to them. They needed someplace to go to think about why they believed what HE said. And why they were so easily swayed to disregard the way that their mama had brought them up.
There were others who believed that they were in …
