No movie was as aptly titled as Shoot ‘em up since it pretty much described what took place over the course of roughly 85% of its run.
This movie had something for everyone (especially adrenalin junkies): uproarious humor, sexual depravity, violence vaguely disguised as more violence, romance, political intrigue, spy v. spy machinations, controversial medical practices, a study of dysfunctional relationships, and the never-ending challenges of single parenthood.
I’ve always liked Clive Owens’(Mr. Smith) work in the ...
Shoot ‘em up is a post from: Writing For Fame

Until last night, I was convinced that the best movie to watch when you’re feeling blue is a comedy. I’m beginning to think that I was wrong. Movies that inspire and encourage you seem to be the antidote for a troubled heart. After the laughs from a comedic movie have subsided, there is still a longing, a void in the spirit that isn’t quite filled.
August Rush is a magical blend of the type of ...
August Rush is a post from: Writing For Fame

This movie absolutely lived up to it’s name!! It was fantastic……what started out as your typical Disney animated fairytale translated beautifully into a ‘real life’ scenario after the lovely Gisele is condemned to a hellish life by the jealous Queen in fear of losing her throne.
In short order, her prince sets out to rescue his fair maiden who was doomed to the bowels of hell (aka New York City). There, they are both in ...
Enchanted is a post from: Writing For Fame

Rob Zombie’s take on the original Halloween
My first thought while leaving was “Was there a 2 for 1 sale at the local bloodbank?” Talk about overkill…..yes, it is a horror movie and given who the director was, that was to be expected….but I found myself unable to watch any of the killing scenes….it was pretty tough to take. It was even difficult to listen to the sound effects as Michael plunged his knife into the ...
Rob Zombie’s Halloween is a post from: Writing For Fame

At some point, the murders started to resemble a scene out of I love Lucy where the chocolates were veering down the conveyor belt….mustn’t let one get away! Then it became a morbid comedy where killing is done for the sake of killing as long as the victim was a member of high society and filthy rich …..which may not be particularly offensive to some…..
