Thanks so much for your kind words. It was difficult to write but proved to be very cathartic. I believe that after a certain age, you begin to lose all interest in what others think of you. I think if I had learned to believe in myself earlier in life I wouldn't have spent so many years trying to gain acceptance from others.

My hope is that my story will save some young person a lot of grief early on and will realize that they are worthy simply because they are here on this earth and they deserve a place on it.

Wow!! Renee, what a powerful post and what a wonderful visual picture I had of the girl who reminded you of your inner strength and beauty!

Your story reminds me of a movie I saw the other night about a young man with Tourette's Syndrome who was bound and determined to become a teacher, despite his disability. Irregardless of what he was told, he KNEW he would be a good teacher and that his disability could be used to teach his students that being different was ok. He went on to become the teacher of the year and continues to teach.

I'm so happy that you found yourself and have moved onto the realization that we are all who we are meant to be and that we are all made in God's image.

I don't know you well but I do know that you are a kind and caring person and that I am blessed to have met you, Renee!!
